About Mr. SilvaMr. Silva earned his Bachelors of Music Education and Clarinet performance from California State University, Long Beach. He studied clarinet privately with Dr. Michael Grego. Currently, he is teaching band, orchestra, jazz, and parade band classes in Irvine, California and holds a teaching credential in Music. He recently completed his student teaching assignment at University High School in Irvine, with band director Mr. Corey Heddon and orchestra director Mrs. Grace Lee. Mr. Silva strives to make a difference in the lives of adolescents in his classroom through the power of music-making.
Originally from the Palm Springs area, Mr. Silva moved to Long Beach to study music at the Bob Cole Conservatory of music. He coached high school and middle school students in the Long Beach and Huntington Beach areas, and was a member of the Newhope Trio and the Honeybadgers Clarinet Quartet. Mr. Silva began playing the clarinet in seventh grade, under the instruction of Mrs. Stephanie Bollard. He later performed with the Indio High School Wind Ensemble, directed by Mr. Jeremy Hackworth, who is now the head band director at Etiwanda High School and director of the award-winning Marching Eagle Regiment. During Mr. Silva's undergrad program, he performed with the CSULB Wind Symphony, under the direction of Mr. John Carnahan, which presented performances in Colorado, Seattle, and New York. He also performed with the Bob Cole Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Johannes Müller-Stosch. |
Private LessonsMr. Rudy Silva offers private clarinet instruction to meet student needs in a personalized manner. After assessing a student's specific needs, Mr. Silva will provide instruction using a variety of methods that will best suit the student. The lessons serve to help developing clarinetists advance in their technique, tone production, repertoire of music, and proper playing habits.
Coming from a purely classical background, Mr. Silva's goal is to help students currently enrolled in middle school and high school programs excel in music being studied at their school. He also provides guidance to students who plan on majoring in music in college or who have never played an instrument at all and now want to learn!
